Two romantic private waterfront cottages await you at The Duck Inn. The Water Garden is a river level hideaway for two, and Willow Cottage can be rented as a one bedroom retreat for two or a two bedroom home away from home for a family. Both cottages perch on pilings at the edge of the Fraser River in Ladner, a historic fishing village just half an hour south of Vancouver and twenty minutes from the U.S. border.

As you climb the ivy covered stairs to Willow Cottage, the river begins to work its magic, offering a wonderful waterfront view with the North Shore Mountains as a misty backdrop. Step out onto the Water Garden verandah, and  local ducks and swans will come by to greet you. Feed them while you sip a cool drink on your private dock. Watch eagles and herons circle and dive over the water.

Lounge in a hammock or barbecue under the riverside weeping willow. Dine by candlelight on your deck, and sailors will wave to you as they return to port. Curl up in front of your fireplace, put on a relaxing CD, and a trio of swans may drift past the French doors. Water Garden couples will enjoy a soothing soak in the deep two person verandah tub, Willow Cottage guests can relax in a hot tub reserved for them in the floating Florida Room. No matter which Cottage you choose, snuggle under the eiderdown in your king size featherbed, and the river will lull you to sleep.

In the morning, let the birds awaken you and start your day with Allen’s delicious smoked salmon and other breakfast treats awaiting you in your well stocked kitchen. Free range eggs from a local farm, bagels, baguettes, jams, cereals, pancake mixes, fruit, coffee, tea. milk (in glass bottles from the Avalon Dairy), juice etc.....are yours to prepare as you like. Servings are generous, and refills are always available.

Spend the day exploring the waterways of the delta in the canoe or bike along the dikes and country roads. Whether you come to the Duck Inn for a romantic escape, or make it your home while exploring Vancouver, the river will enchant you.
